OUR VISION
The Portage Economic Development Corporation will provide full service support for the development, growth, success, attraction and innovation of businesses in Portage. We will be recognized as a community leader through partnerships, facilitating technological development/training, regional collaboration and helping to build a skilled workforce. We are the trusted premiere choice for business opportunities, economic development and membership. We support a quality of life in the Portage community.
RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Portage EDC prides ourselves for working closely with City leaders, businesses and other partners to help grow our community. We are excited to share some of our recent accomplishments.

Business attraction, retention and expansion

9 new companies located in Portage; 3 were international
5 of our existing businesses expanded
1,136 total jobs were affected - 624 new and 512 retained
$121.7 million in new investment was added to our tax base
$25.8 million in new salaries was added
49 visits were made to existing Portage businesses

Workforce and education initiatives
​
With Portage Township Schools and Ivy Tech - Valparaiso Campus - presented an overview of the 360 programs to the State Indiana School Board Association
With Junior Achievement Chicago and Portage Township Schools - held inaugural "JA Inspire" event to bring career success and soft skills to high school freshmen and sophomores
Portage EDC's Workforce Round Table - 15 businesses, Portage education leaders and college and university representatives
Portage EDC sponsored conferences and workshops -18 different Portage businesses
Healthcare 360 - attended by 90 Portage High School students and school leaders
Manufacturing 360 - attended by 100 Portage High School students and school leaders
Portage EDC's 2020 Annual Meeting featured keynote and discussion with U.S. Rep. Frank Mvran Jr.

Community safety during pandemic
Partnered with businesses and local organizations to provide a variety of safety supplies to our paramedics, schools, YMCA and Portage citizens
