The Portage Economic Development Corporation is proud to announce that new City of Portage wayfinding signs were installed throughout the City this winter. The project will provide a significant boost to local businesses by helping visitors and tourists find key amenities in the City such as shopping, restaurants, or parks.
Each year over 3 million visitors come to Porter County to visit the Indiana Dunes. Many of them travel through Portage's northside to get there. The new sign system will help direct travelers on US-12, US-20, I-94, and the Indiana Toll Road from the northside south into the City's downtown and Route 6 business districts. This will result in increased customer traffic for businesses throughout the City.
The new sign system will replace the existing wayfinding signs and will increase the overall number of signs from about 20 to over 54 signs. The signs are made possible through generous contributions from: The City of Portage Redevelopment Commission, the Porter County Economic Development Alliance, Porter Hospital, Goodrich Quality Theaters, Samuelson Insurance, Centier Bank, and First Source Bank.
